I spent a while scratching my head over this today it’s not in the manual and it sure doesn’t seem to be common knowledge. This will work if you only need to be able to paint with the main color, but it disables any use of Combine Modes and locks you out of the sub color. I have seen (and previously employed) the following workaround: Make sure the Expression Color of the layer or image you’re creating your brush tip from is set to either Gray or Monochrome. The premade brushes* pick up the main and sub colors, but yours stay black (and/or white). But if you decided to create your own brushes with your own custom brush tips, you may have run into the following problem: In MS5, there are some premade brushes that pick up the main and sub colors.
